4/6/2009 The Warmest Day of the Year!

I know that there are usually a few days in late January and early February when we get a few nice days. This creates optimism and a better mood. This is really important because then the next couple months are the real test.

Finally when the first 70 degree day rolls around you can look everywhere and see a huge burst of energy. So I decided to take advantage of this great day to get some photos of some of the landmarks of the valley for a few new Community pages on my web site. These pages will let you learn more about some of the local communities we share the valley with. Check Out: Silverton

Of course the best way to go photo shooting is on two wheels! I thought every bike in the country was on the road

1/19/2009 Learning to Blog
Well, today several hard working dedicated Brokers braved the cold to learn some new skills. In this session, one of the topics of this discussion was:
Why Would You Blog?
The answer to that is going to vary from person to person, but here are a few common answers.
  • Communicate with family and sphere
  • Communicate with peers
  • Showcase your knowledge and skills
  • Educate about topics
  • Encourage repeat, referral and return use of your website
So my congratulations to this harty bunch of great brokers.
1/7/2009 Some thoughts for the week

Big News!!!

The Snow in the Willamette Valley has melted revealing incredible real estate bargains and values. Yes it true and better yet is it's more affordable than ever. I just heard today that a new purchase mortgage is now well under 5%. Heading for the mid 4's. I remember buying my first house in 1973 at great 8.5% rate it was so cheap. I also remember buying another house in 1989 at an interest rate of 13% and feeling dang lucky! How times have changed. So now the new year is here and you can actually see the dirt to buy, it might be a very good to get pre-qualified for one of those super good loans out there!

11/20/2008 Oregon Saturdy Ride / Resturant Review
Hi again,

One of the Great reasons to live in Oregon would be the access to the Oregon coast. The weekend of November 15th was fantastic. A great day to get one last motorcycle ride in before winter comes. This trip was to the Three Capes Scenic Route it starts at Pacific City and goes north. On the way back to Salem from Tillamook a great place to stop is Carlton. If you are hungry a great place is Cielo Blu. This is a really good restaurant featuring Italian style food and in a well restored old style small town building. Nice setting to people watch and wine taste. Visit their Web Site to see more.

Here is a shot from the walk to the Cape Mears Lighthouse.

Weekend Winery Review

Sweet Cheeks is located at 26961 Briggs Hill Road Eugene, Oregon 97405.

A short drive from Eugene gets you there.
Visiting on one of the rainiest days I can recently remember we found this terrific setting. They have a wonderful facility and I enjoyed their hospitality. Even though we were there in November it looks as though they can handle a large number of visitors.

I enjoyed and made a purchase of their "Rosy Cheeks" it was very pleasant and crisp. It'll be great next summer on the patio.

11/6/2008 New to my Home Finder this week!

Hello and welcome to my Blog. This is a new feature and I just had to take it for a spin. This is my space devoted to sharing with you some of my thoughts and ideas about the topic of real estate and other timely subjects.

  • First of all I'm relieved that after what has seemed like forever. The national, state and local elections are over. Hopefully your candidate or cause was successful. My feelings about this whole process are that since what seemed like a multi year campaigning process the positive thing is that the pressure to appeal to the voters has forced them to be more moderate in their thinking and actions. I'm not sure how long this will last but I just don’t think extreme attitudes ether left or right help any of us. Secondly, does anyone have any ideas about what seems to be the norm in running for public office and that is negative advertising. I think they just waste a boat load of money and us the voters don't get any useful information for making choices.

Personal side:

Fall has landed! No kidding. Hopefully that doesn't mean No Motorcycling! Any time the weather gives us a break and you want to get together for a ride give me a call!

Here is the Bike photo for the week!
